What a Brow Lift can Do for You

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Thursday, September 10, 2015

These days, there is more pressure than ever to appear fit and youthful. Unfortunately, drugstore cosmetics, creams, gels, and serums cannot provide the permanent results you want to restore the volume and tautness of your youth. If gravity is doing its work to make you appear tired and aged, a brow lift may be the solution you need to feel confident again, and love the way you look. A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, can reduce the wrinkles on the forehead, the bridge of the nose, and between the eyes. These lines occur naturally over time, but that doesn’t mean you have to live with them. A brow lift can also remove frown lines, correct sagging brows contributing to hooding of the eyelids, and create a taut appearance. Although a brow lift’s results can be amplified with an eyelid lift, a facelift, or skin resurfacing, your plastic surgeon can help you decide what option is the best for your needs.

Choosing the Perfect Size Breast Implant

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Monday, August 03, 2015

How you see yourself is an important factor in choosing the right size breast implant for your Orlando breast enhancement. Ideas about size are very subjective, and your idea of big or small may differ from someone else’s. You should take some time at your surgeon’s office to test out different potential implant sizes, as the right implant size for your body will probably be the one you like the most when you see yourself in the mirror. During the sizing process, your surgeon will measure different areas of your body, including the width of the base of your breasts. The measurements can be evaluated in visual, 3-D computer imaging programs so that you can see what potential implant sizes will look like from another point of view. By making sure you voice your opinion and feelings throughout the process, you and your surgeon will have a much easier time refining the decision. Asking for opinions from outside sources like friends and family, too, can be helpful. Another way to make the decision easier is to bring in a few items of clothing to try on, to get a feel for your potential appearance in different settings. At first, you may decide that a certain implant size is perfect, however, over time you could change your mind. That’s why it’s important to take your time and consider all of your options.

The Difference Between a Tummy Tuck and Liposuction

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Wednesday, June 24, 2015

Sometimes, working out and dieting isn’t enough to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat on the body. Whether you’ve recently given birth and want to tighten your tummy, or you’re just looking to slim down before bikini season, plastic surgery can help you achieve your goals. Although plastic surgery in Orlando has been steadily growing in popularity, and is increasingly accessible, many people are confused about the difference between liposuction and tummy tucks. If the two procedures are confused, it could result in a post-surgery appearance that is less than satisfactory. Understanding the distinction between the two procedures allows for a surgeon and patient to develop a plan to achieve the patient’s desired results, so that they can have a more youthful appearance, naturally.

Liposuction involves the removal of fat from under the skin. The fat is removed through very small incisions, with full recovery lasting up to four weeks. Normal, daily activities can usually be resumed within the first two weeks, and the final results can show up between one and six months. An Orlando tummy tuck involves the removal of excess skin and fat, and the tightening of underlying abdominal muscle. Heavy activity should be avoided for three to six months, and daily activities might not be resumed for up to four weeks. Although a tummy tuck and liposuction can be performed in conjunction for better results, some patients may not require both to achieve their desired results.

Pec Implants

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Tuesday, June 09, 2015

Orlando cosmetic surgery, although generally marketed towards women, is a great way for men to achieve the physique they’ve been dreaming of. Whether you’re looking to gain a toned abdomen, defined jaw line, or a more balanced nose, an Orlando cosmetic surgeon can work with you to accomplish your goals. Aside from the more popular procedures, like liposuction and nose jobs, pec implants are another safe procedure that a plastic surgeon can utilize to help you gain more confidence in your appearance. Whether you’re a body builder or just trying to have a bulkier build, pec implants are the solution to building up a more muscular appearance in the chest. Great pecs are the secret to looking tone and fit. Even if you have an impressive six pack of abs, shoulders, and lat muscles, a lackluster chest is enough to keep your appearance at a plateau. For a body builder, the smallest details can be a detriment to appearance and performance. Although the pectoralis muscles (minor and major) are easy to build at the gym, they can still suffer from limitations based on genetics or lack of ability to commit to the necessary gym regimen. Sometimes, muscles won’t reach their full potential for any number of reasons. With the use of pec implants, thickness and size of the pecs can be greatly increased. Pec implants look natural, as they are placed underneath the pectoralis major; this means that what is visible from the outside is all muscle.

Is Plastic Surgery Only for Women?

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Thursday, May 28, 2015

Although once taboo and seen as reserved only for the wealthy and famous, plastic surgery in Orlando is growing in popularity every day as a safe and easy way to gain confidence in one’s appearance, and make physical changes for the better. Plastic surgery is a specialty area of surgery involving making changes to the structure, form, and function of the body. Although plastic surgery can be performed for reconstructive purposes after trauma, injury, or a physical birth defect, cosmetic surgery can also be performed in order to create an aesthetically pleasing appearance and to boost self confidence. Modern plastic surgery was developed by Sir Harold Gillies, an otolaryngologist or ENT (ear, nose, and throat doctor). He developed much of the basic techniques used today for facial plastic surgery; he performed them on disfigured soldiers during World War I. After working on skin grafts with a French surgeon named Morestin, Gillies established a facial injury ward and then a facial repair hospital in 1917. He performed procedures on over five thousand men before opening a private practice and expanding his practice to perform surgery on famous patients. Although plastic surgery was originally performed mostly on men, it evolved over time into a female-targeted market. Facelifts, nose jobs, butt lifts, liposuction, tummy tucks, and breast augmentations are just some of the most popular cosmetic procedures. Most people utilize plastic surgery to remove fat and tighten saggy skin, or reshape an area of their face that is crooked, disproportionate, or just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing. These procedures tend to be marketed towards women, however, men that wish to undergo plastic surgery have every option open to them, including lesser known surgeries, such as peck or calf implants.

Chemical Peels, Facials and Fraxel, Oh My!

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Monday, May 04, 2015

At Plastic Surgery Central Florida, we offer chemical peels and enzyme peels to help your skin glow with radiance! Chemical peels refresh tired, wrinkled skin through the application of a special chemical solution. This removes the dull outer layers to let the fresh skin underneath shine through. Enzyme peels involve the sloughing of dead skin cells to reveal the radiant underlying skin, restoring natural beauty and refreshing your appearance. With specially targeted acne treatments, our team can eliminate pimples and blemishes, and diminish the appearance of acne scars. Our European facials remove toxins from the skin, soaking deep into the pores to clean and exfoliate. Additionally, microdermabrasion can smooth the surface of the skin, and Obagi “blue” peels can remove wrinkles and spots, and restore skin elasticity.

With the Fraxel laser, Dr. Arabitg can eliminate signs of aging, sun spots, acne scars, and more without destroying your skin’s natural pigment. It is safe and effective, with a “fractional” treatment that allows the skin to heal faster than lasers that treat an entire area at once. With virtually no discomfort, Fraxel technology can show amazing results after only two months. Dr. Arabitg can also use the Palomar RejuveLux intense pulse light system to break up the pigment in skin lesions, causing them to fade in two weeks or less. At Plastic Surgery Central Florida, our wide array of Orlando skin care treatments are sure to help you get back the youthful glow you’ve been dreaming of.

Breast Augmentation in Orlando: When Should Women Consider Getting It?

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Monday, April 27, 2015

PSCF-Why Consider Breast Aug

Breast Augmentation in Orlando: When Should Women Consider Getting It?

One of the most popular plastic surgeries women opt for is breast augmentation. The reasons for getting one are varied. Some go through it purely to enhance their appearance, while others do so to correct genetic conditions, or those brought on by certain illnesses or treatments.

Corrective Procedure

Micromastia is a condition that results in underdeveloped breasts in women. Some women also develop asymmetrical breasts, where one breast is bigger or is shaped differently than the other. Women with these conditions often suffer from embarrassment and poor body image. Breast augmentation corrects these conditions, resulting in enhanced self-esteem.

Likewise, cancer patients who go through mastectomy (or the removal of breast tissue) also have the option of getting a breast implant to restore their appearance after their treatment.

After Birth

Women who have gone through several pregnancies may also benefit from breast augmentation. It is common for women’s breasts to sag and deflate after pregnancy, especially for mothers who breastfeed--a far cry from how they looked and felt before child-bearing. Breast augmentation can help these women get a more youthful figure. Local mothers who want their breasts to be the same size as before can inquire with experienced plastic surgeons like Dr. Richard Arabitg about breast augmentation in Orlando. The doctors can help them find out how the procedure may help them.

Emotional Reassurance

On the other hand, there are women who get breast augmentation simply because they are not satisfied with their bodies and want to improve them. Breast augmentation has been known to have generally positive effects on patients, leaving them feeling good about themselves after getting a fuller and more “womanly” figure. These women are happy with knowing they now look better in clothes, especially figure-flattering ones. This helps boost their self-image, consequently giving them a more positive attitude toward other aspects of their lives.

Certified Orlando plastic surgeons advise women who are contemplating on undergoing breast augmentation to assess their reasons for getting the procedure. This is especially true for those who are going through life-changing events like divorce, death in the family, and other similar experiences. In some cases, women might see breast augmentation as the quick answer to their emotional dilemma, and they could end up regretting the decision when they’ve recovered from their distraught.

Plastic surgeons advise their patients to maintain the right attitude about cosmetic procedures. While they can help improve self-image, these procedures should not be considered the answer to all of a person’s problems. Breast augmentation can make a woman look and feel good; however, it should be done only under the right circumstances and mindset.
