Neck Lift Surgery and Alternative Procedures

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Wednesday, February 11, 2015

If your goal is to remove excess skin from your neck, your Orlando cosmetic surgeon may recommend surgery. During this procedure, your surgeon makes an incision either under your chin or behind your ears. This incision allows him/her to access the platysma muscle in your neck. The platysma muscle is located in the chest and front of the neck on the human body, and controls your lower jaw. Your surgeon accesses this muscle to either alter or remove it. This allows for the skin around the muscle to tighten up. It is possible that this procedure is performed endoscopically, which leaves a smaller incision mark.

Another procedure that may be used to remove excess skin is liposuction. Orlando liposuction would remove excess fat found in your chin and lower neck area. Your surgeon uses a small incision to access the area in your lower face. It is important to follow your plastic surgeon’s instructions regarding care for your incisions after receiving liposuction. On the other hand, BOTOX Cosmetic injections can be used as an alternate or in conjunction to surgery. These injections help the platysma muscle relax and make the neck have a fuller appearance.

The Perfect Candidate for a Chin Implant

Dr. Richard Arabitg,MD - Friday, September 26, 2014

One of the services that Plastic Surgery Central Florida provides is a chin implant. Chin implants, also known as mentoplasty or genioplasty, are performed to make the chin longer or bigger to balance the face when comparing it to other facial features. There are different reasons for a patient to want a chin implant, but there are certain qualities that make up the perfect candidate to receive one.

Although there are many patients who may desire a chin implant, not every patient will be able to receive one. A patient must have a normal dental bite and teeth function in order to be considered a candidate for a chin implant. The candidate must have a small or receding chin, a chin that may seem disproportional to other facial features, or a desire to increase chin prominence. It is also important for a candidate to have a well-functioning immune system so that there is low risk of infection after the surgery. If a patient meets all three of these requirements, they may be the perfect candidate for a chin implant.
